A fairly standard week last week. Most of the3 week was spent making bricks out at Tika Tika for work. We've made around 3,500 so there's no hope of getting the 10,000 required completed before we leave. The weekend was quiet. A couple went down to Arequipa in southern Peru but I stayed in town. I've had a head cold, which has slowed me down and I plan on going to Arequipa when the program finishes. With so little exciting happening at the moment, I thought I'd fill you in on a few reflections of Peru (or Cusco at least). For a start, there are eucalyptus trees everywhere. The native trees are small and slow growing so someone imported massive eucalyptus from Australia. It bizarre because they are everywhere. Also women in Peru where funny hats. Whether they be bowler hats, cowboy hats, Panama hats or white top hats, there is a variety of interesting hats worn by middle age women throughout the place. Apparently it represents what tribe/culture they are from but I don't know if that's true. There are dogs everywhere around here. No collars and few fences mean that they run freely throughout the city. They are largely passive but you do hear stories of bites every now and then. Not much else to say for now. Hope all is well and keep the emails rolling in. Cheers
